Child Restraints, Seats and Capsules in Taxi Cabs
Victorian taxi cabs and Drivers are not able to supply child restraints, seats, or capsules for your trip.
You should use a restraint, seat, or capsule when able to provide your own. All taxi cabs provide an anchor bolt or fitting for one restraint, seat, or capsule.
If it is not convenient for you to provide your own restraint, seat, or capsule, during trips to the airport or to a shopping centre for example, there are still options suitable for you:
Children under 12 months do not have to use a child restraint, seat, or capsule in a taxi providing
- your child travels in the back seat
- your child is placed on the lap of an adult
- your child is not placed under the seat belt
Children over 12 months do not have to use a child restraint, seat, or capsule in a taxi providing
- your child travels in the back seat
- your child is secured with their own seatbelt
Further information regarding transporting children in taxi cabs can be found at the VicRoads website.
